This is an online interactive resource developed by the University of Arizona. It provides teachers, and students, with engaging and interactive tools for learning biology content. Content includes tutorials and problem sets on subjects such as cell structure, cell mitosis, DNA, and genetics. Teachers can use the site to assign problem sets for students to practice and review.

The Cells Alive website contains a plethora of resources for teachers. From interactive diagrams, games, worksheets, powerpoints, videos, and even cell web cams! Contrary to the name, it is not just cells. The subjects of microbes, genetics, and immune response are also covered. This website is a powerful tool of rich and engaging lessons that teachers can use to enhance classroom learning. I highly suggest the interactive "How Big is .." to help students understand the size and scope of living organisms.

Developed and supported by Howard Hughes Medical Institute, Biointeractive provides multimedia resources for teaching biology concepts. Short films, virtual labs, click and learns, and classroom resources all supported by teacher guides written for teachers, by teachers. Use the film and accompanying lesson plan "The Making of the Fittest: Natural Selection and Adaptation" to show students a living example of the evolutionary process using the rock pocket mouse found in Arizona. This film will bring the concept of natural selection and adaption alive for your students.

The goal of this site is to bring make biology videos available through open resources to educators and students around the world. Biology seminars, flipped classrooms, Famous Discovery Talks, and other resources include review questions, discussion questions, and assessments to use with students. The lectures and videos are brought to you and your students by real biologists anxious to share the discovery process

Created by two Texas teachers, and aligned to the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills, Science with the Amoeba Sisters will make learning fun! The goal of this site is to use humor and relevance to bring biology content to life for students. All of the lessons from this website are based around the animated videos starring Pinky and Petunia, two amoebas. The humor and science blend together to give students memorable ways to understand and remember difficult biology content. Videos are accompanied by handouts for students. The site also includes GIFs and Paramecium Parlor Comics. My students love the songs and mnemonic devices used in the videos. These short and engaging videos are a great way to introduce a new lesson, or for a quick review!

Created by the Genetic Science Learning Center at the University of Utah, this site has been one of my favorites and most used as a classroom teacher. The content focuses on genetics, biosciences, and health but encompasses a larger biology content as well. There is a companion site, Learn Genetics, for students as well. This site offers a wealth of resources from lesson plans, to videos, interactive tutorials, downloadable activities for classroom use, and more. This is the best site that I have found for teaching genetics, from a paper transcription and translation activity to the build-a-bird activity. The print and go activities provided are a staple of my classroom.
